The Whalebone Box: Win a limited edition Blu-ray

Competitions, DVD & Blu-Ray, The Whalebone Box

British artist and filmmaker Andrew Kötting’s unique and haunting experimental The Whalebone Box is new to limited edition HD Blu-Ray this week and we’re giving away TWO copies!

Made together with his long-time collaborator, the poet and filmmaker Iain Sinclair, the artist Anonymous Bosch and his daughter and artist Eden Kötting as narrator and muse, Andrew Kötting’s, The Whalebone Box is an original cinematic experience all about a box made of whale bone.

Entangled in a fisherman’s net and washed up on a remote beach in the Outer Hebrides, this box has a history, and once touched it is said to change lives. In this extraordinary film, part history, part myth, part fiction and part documentary, Kötting and his team set out to uncover the truth behind the myth.

Here is the official synopsis…

Andrew Kötting’s latest psycho-geographic journey across the British Isles is both quest and mission. With a merry band of travellers including Eden Kötting, Iain Sinclair, Philip Hoare, Dr Helen Paris, Macgillivray Kyunwai So, Ceylan Unal and Steve Dilworth, Kötting sets out on an expedition to take the whalebone box – given to Iain Sinclair 30 years prior – to its place of origin – a beach on the Isle of Harris in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. With Kötting’s daughter at the helm, compellingly navigating the journey as it unfolds, and shot using super 8 interweaved with elements of archive and pinhole photography, The Whalebone Box is an idiosyncratic road map which celebrates the notion of the homemade.

Included on The Whalebone Box’s limited edition Blu-Ray are a host of special features including ‘Elements of the Box’ – six short films and miscellanea, the original soundtrack and two additional short films.
